HTR Hollow Tile Repair
Hollow Tile Repair Adhesive

The HTR injection system is designed to re-adhere ceramic / stone tiles and pavers which have lost bond with the existing substrate.

USES
HTR's unique elastomeric qualities allow for limited deflection (a common cause for loss of bond on concrete and plywood substrates) Thus, eliminating a possible reoccurrence of the same problem. HTR is a non-toxic and odor free. HTR can be used on various flooring materials: Ceramic tile, Quarry and Brick pavers, Marble and Stone tiles, Mexican tiles and most laminated floors.

ADVANTAGES
HTR eliminates the time-consuming cleanup costs.
HTR eliminates tile die-lot matching problems, as you do not have to tear out the existing tile.
HTR is a non-toxic and odor free single component adhesive that cleans up with water.
Will fit in an average caulking gun.
HTR is an inexpensive, labor saving correction.

SUITABLE SUBSTRATES

Concrete Concrete Masonry
Cement Mortar Beds Cement Plaster
Ceramic Tile and Stone Brick Masonry
Cement Backer Board Cement Terrazzo
Exterior Grade Plywood* Gypsum Wallboard*
Gypsum Mortar Bed

*Interior Use Only

LIMITATIONS
Do not use HTR below 40°F (4°C) or above 110°F (44°C). Use caution; do not allow HTR to
freeze for the first 72 hours. HTR must not be used to apply over asphalt sheeting, vinyl
covered wall board, Masonite®, cement asbestos board, metal, glass, plastic, or other unstable
substrates. Improperly cured or wet plywood, particle board or strip wood are not suitable
substrates. Do not use in installations that will be continually wet like swimming pools,
fountains and gang showers. Some dimensional stone tile like green and red marbles may warp
when installed with water based adhesives like HTR. These water sensitive stone tiles should
be repaired with Mer-Krete ProEpoxy. For use of HTR over additional substrates or situations
not mentioned in these instructions, contact Mer-Krete's Technical department.

TECHNICAL DATA

APPLICABLE STANDARDS
Mer-Krete System's HTR repair adhesive is a unique innovation and currently there are no industry
standards for this new technology.

INSTALLATION

SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be above 40°F (4°C) to 110°F (44°C) and structurally sound (deflection not
to exceed 1/360 of the span. Movement (Expansion) joints should be provided to comply with
TCNA method EJ 171.

APPLICATION
Isolate hollow tiles by tapping lightly with a wooden or rubber mallet. Use a 1/8" masonry drill
bit to locate 3 to 4 holes per grout joint. Caution should be used to not nick or damage the tile.
Vacuum the tiles and grout area well. Shake the HTR tube well and place in the caulking gun. Cut the
tip of the tube smaller then the holes in the grout joint. Using light pressure inject the HTR into
the holes in the grout joint. Using the mallet, lightly tap the tile until the HTR is fully distributed
under the tile. Repeat this process in each hole until the HTR is fully dispersed. Clean excess residue
with a clean lightly damp sponge. Place weight (water bucket work well) over the area re-adhered for a
minimum of 24 hours. Fill holes with Mer-Krete System ColorGrout or Colored Caulking and allow drying.
Due to discoloration, different ages, and changes in materials, using a colored sealer on the grout
joint maybe necessary. If needed, use Mer-Krete Systems Revive for color stability.

CLEANING
Water is all that is needed to remove any uncured adhesive from tiles, tools and equipment.
